The AMA has a commitment to support and encourage you in developing and contributing to the education of enthusiasts through training, programs, sport and recreation, whether it be at Club or Regional, State or National level.
To become an Accredited Club Coach to organise and educate, you will need to either:
- prove your past or current coaching qualifications; or
- complete an education and training program to provide you with the skills and knowledge to enable you to coach with us.
Below is a brief outline of how you become a Club Coach.
Start as a Trainee Coach
A Trainee Coach is a person that does not hold any qualifications or have any experience. To get started, all Trainee Officials must enrol and commence the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Community Coaching General Principles (CCGP) online course. This course has been developed to assist officials learning the basic skills they will need to officiate effectively.
A Trainee Official may only 'shadow officiate' alongside an already accredited official and must keep a duty log of all officiating activities. In the event that an accredited official is unable to perform his/ her duties at an event for health or other reasons and the Trainee Official is confident in his/ her abilities to officiate, the Trainee Official may become the Acting Official to ensure continuity of the event.
Once the Trainee Official has successfully completed the AIS CCGP online course and has logged a nominal amount of endorsed hours by the Supervising Official, the AMA Trainer Assessor will verify the endorsement and upon approval, the Trainee Official may be approved as an Accredited Official.
About the Courses
All officiating courses are delivered under the guidelines of the National Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS), an Australian Sports Commission (ASC) program, managed by the ASC’s Coaching & Officiating Unit. All of our Officials are recognised as having met the standards under the NOAS, recognised by the Commonwealth and State/Territory governments.
All NOAS accreditations are valid for the term of your membership but you must be able to show that you have been an active official and have undertaken activities that will keep you current.
Officials Accreditation Requirements
To maintain your accreditation you must:
- Maintain Event Official Authorisation with us during the accreditation period. This will ensure the accredited offical is covered by professional indemnity insurance.
- Maintain a current Working with Children Check relevant to the state or territory in which you will be working.
- Each year, undertake officials duties at a minimum of three (3) events.
- You will be required to submit a duty log of your officiating activities.
